Introduction
Q : How do I get more answers and technical support?
A : The best way is to send us an email. A lot of the questions we
get require some research and thought. General questions can be
answered immediately. If a questions is too complicated to explain
in an email, we can discuss it over the phone. You may call our
support line at +60 (12) 219 2880 or email to
support@mcentury.com. Or
you click on our
Online Contact Form.

will be activated by next day 7.00am. If we have received your
payment after 3.00pm, your account will be activated by next day
7.00pm.
Q : How do I transfer my existing domain name to your server?
^ top
A1 : Login to your domain name and modify the name server as below
Primary Name Server :
ns1.mcentury.com IP : 202.75.33.181
Secondary Name Server :
ns2.mcentury.com IP : 202.75.35.181
As soon as the routers out on the Internet update with the new DNS
information, usually within 24 hours, we will set up your
account. Then we will send you your login detail. You will then be
ready to upload your web pages and setup your email accounts.
A2 : If you do not know how to do it, don't worry, we can transfer

^ top
A : Yes, we can point any domain name to any hosted domain name
for RM 30.00/year. Please email to

to do a pointing.
Q : What databases do you support?
A : We support MS accessand Mysql databases.
Q : How to setup MS Access and Mysql database support?
^ top
A1 : When you install a Microsoft Access database on our server,
the database will require a DSN (data source name) registered on
our server. Call or e-mail to us the DSN name with your database's
location and we will set it up for you. Usually that is all it
takes to make your database work. If you have any problem making
it work, then we can trouble shoot permissions and the like from
our end.
A2 : We have a phpmyadmin control panel for u to configure your
mysql databases. Just login, click to "Database" create database,
user and password there. You can also insert mysql ready databases
too in a convenience way.
Q : I have a database that is not Microsoft Access or Mysql. Can
you help me?
A : At the moment we only support MS Access and Mysql.
Q1 : What is FTP?
A1 : FTP (file transfer protocol) is a method of moving files
across the
Internet. This is the most common way to manage a web site.
There are tools to assist with the process.
Q2 : Can I use FTP to update my site?
^ top
A2 : Sure. You can logon to your site on our server using the user
name
and password that assigned to you. Once you are logged on, you
can upload and download files, create and remove directories, etc.
Q3 : Where can I get a FREE copy of free FTP program?
A3 : You can download a free copy of FTP Explorer and install it
on your computer
here.
Q : What are search engines and directories?
A : Search engines are directories of web sites out on the
Internet.
When a person is looking for information on the web, the
easiest way to locate that information is by searching for it.
There are a growing number of search engines.
Q : How do I register with search engines?
^ top
A : You can submit to them one at a time. Each search engine
usually
has some form of "add URL" or "add page" link on their home page.
For example, try to find the "add URL" link at
http://altavista.com.
They call it "add a page". Another option is to use bulk
submission
software. There are a few sites on the web that will submit to a
number
of search engines for FREE. Or you can pay a company to submit
your
site to hundreds of sites.

Q : How do I improve my search engine ranking?
A : Search engine ranking is based on your page title, description
metatag,
keyword metatag, document text, alt tags for images, comment tags,
and page text. The best information I have found on the subject
comes
from a web site by
Bruce Clay. This site also explains other
topics for
driving traffic to your site such as banner adds, reciprocal
links, good
design practices, etc. Bookmark the site and spend a few days
reading
through the site. The information is well worth it.
Q : What if I am using frame pages?
^ top
A : Frame pages cause problems with search engine robots and
spiders
that index your site. Although Bruce Clay does not recommend the
use
of leader pages, If you are using frame pages they can be vary
helpful
in search engine ranking and attracting visitors to your site.
Some sites
offer a framed version and a no-frame version of the same site.
There are 2 reasons for doing this. First, some browsers are not
frame
compatible and second, the none-frame version will be better
indexed
by the search engines. If you are not concerned that some browsers
cannot view frame pages, then the alternative is to use leader
page or
doorway page. These are a set of web pages that are not in frames
and
are loaded with keywords related to your target audience.
For example, if your web site is geared toward selling widgets,
then
you create a subweb in a folder in your root directory. The subweb
is like a miniature version of the main site. Think of it as
advertising pages that lead customers to you through increased
ranking in the search engines. Create a few pages using Bruce
Clays advice for search engine ranking, then link them to your
main site.
Q : What is the default display files on the web server?
A : index.asp, index.aspl, index.asp, index.php, default.asp,
default.aspl and default.asp.
Q : Can I have my own dedicated IP?
A : Yes, you can. The price for a dedicated IP is RM 200/year.
Q : What I need to know to upload my website via FrontPage?
^ top
A : In FrontPage click on first on File than on Publish Web. For
publish destination use http://yourdomain.com and after than you
will be asked for username and password. After you submit this
information Frontpage will upload your web content to the server.
